The Orangutan Conservancy is pleased to announce funding approval for Dr. Yenny Saraswati to attend the 16th annual Asian Society of Conservation Medicine (ASCM) in October of 2023 in Jeju, North Korea. Dr. Saraswati will be presenting on orangutan health issues in rehabilitation centers.
Dr. Saraswati is a wildlife veterinarian, working with multiple conservation groups such as the Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL), Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program (SOCP), and the Orangutan Conservancy’s Orangutan Veterinary Advisory Group (OVAG).
Dr. Saraswati will attend the conference and deliver a presentation to highlight the importance of understanding the role of gastrointestinal health in the rehabilitation of orangutans. While this conference will not only help disseminate findings on the important relationship between asymptomatic infection and subsequent symptoms to gain a better understanding of orangutan health issues in rehabilitation centers; it also supports active discourse and networking in the conservation research field.
The Orangutan Conservancy is dedicated to supporting conservation work in a variety of ways, including funding scholarships and professional development opportunities for orangutan conservation and rehabilitation staff working in the field.
